What is Hypnosis?

Is it clucking like a chicken, barking like a dog, or sleeping? No, it is none of these!

Hypnosis is a focused state of awareness. Your senses are heightened and you are highly suggestible during the hypnosis. You can still hear what is going on around you. Hypnosis is already a part of our daily lives! Don’t believe it? Let me explain.

When you are in hypnosis, you are very open to all types of suggestions. They can be positive or negative. Because of that, you should be very careful what you are thinking, saying, or watching especially during your natural hypnosis times. So, when is our natural hypnosis time during the day?

Right before we go to sleep or wake up, we are not asleep nor totally awake. That’s the hypnosis! When you are watching a movie or reading a book and are so caught up in the movie that you do not hear somebody calling you. That is hypnosis! When you are driving on the freeway and miss the exit, because you were thinking about something else and do not remember how you got home, that is hypnosis! Hypnosis is a totally natural process. But we are not aware of it. So how can we use hypnosis to our advantage? Here are 3 tips on how to use hypnosis in our daily lives.

3 Tips on How To Use Hypnosis in Our Daily Lives - Hypnotes

1. Journaling or Writing Affirmations Right Before We Go to Bed or Upon Awakening

Remember, these are the golden times of the day that we do not want to waste. 30 minutes before we go to bed or 30 minutes after awakening we are in a highly suggestible state, which is a state of hypnosis. Your creative brain is most active during these times. So it is wonderful if we use these times for writing affirmations or planning our goals.

There is a part of your brain called the amygdala. It is like a map that shows us what we think is important. For example, if you want to buy a red Honda, all of a sudden you see red Honda everywhere, in front of a neighbor’s house, at work, on the road. Why? Because the amygdala picks up the idea that red Honda is very important to you and brings it to your attention when you see it. Therefore, you need to be as specific as possible while writing down your goals. Because everything you write, think, and a plan has the possibility to be your future!

2. Not Checking News or Email in the Morning or Night

As we said earlier these are the natural hypnosis times and you are highly suggestible during these times. So if you pick up your phone first thing in the morning, and see bad news or an email, this image goes directly into your subconscious mind. This negative image can put you in an anxiety state that will last through the day.

In order to avoid checking your phone first thing in the morning, you should plan what you would do beforehand. There are many more useful things to do. You can exercise, write affirmations, set your daily goals, meditate, spend time with your children, and so on. Do not fill your subconscious mind with these negative images. Do not let your phone affect your day and productivity!

3. Creating Positive Anchors for Your Child

Firstly, what is an anchor? The anchor is a trigger that is used to create a reaction in our bodies. The anchor can be a smell, taste, or even a song. Whenever you smell the special types of cookies, it reminds you of your grandma or you listen to a song, and it brings you back to your honeymoon days. Anchoring is a really powerful technique to overcome stressful situations or traumas.

There is a book named ‘Raising Your Children With Hypnosis’ by Donald J. Mottin. I love the idea of one of his friends creating a positive anchor with his children. Here is how the process goes: When his children watch their favorite TV show, he touches their shoulders and says ‘You are very intelligent.’ or ‘You are wonderful.’ He does this over and over again. He establishes the anchor.

Then, if there are times they feel stressed and down, all he needs to do is touch their shoulders as he did before and even if the father does not say anything, the mind will repeat the message. Simple and wonderful! Isn’t it?

Notice, when they are watching their favorite TV show or movie, they are in hypnosis and a very relaxed state. They are really open to all types of suggestions. He uses hypnosis to their advantage! First, he establishes the anchor by doing over and over again, saying the same things when they are in a relaxed state. The mind learns the process because it is repeated so many times before. When he touches their shoulders, it means they are intelligent and wonderful. If a shoulder tapping gesture is applied during difficult times, the mind picks up the idea and feels that they are intelligent and wonderful. It will bring relief.

You can also deliver your positive suggestions during your children’s sleep time, right before they fall asleep and upon awakening. Do this for 21 days and see the change!

After learning about hypnosis and how powerful our minds are, my mission has become to help people and show them that they can do whatever they want if they set their minds to it! They can unlock their full potential through hypnosis.
